The Augusta Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center is a two-division Medical Center that provides tertiary care in medicine, surgery, neurology, psychiatry, rehabilitation medicine, and spinal cord injury. The Medical Center is affiliated with the Georgia Health Sciences University, Augusta, GA and as such integrates teaching, research, and advanced patient care, making it an attractive academic medical center. Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 7:30a-4:00p; with rotating shifts as needed
Location of position: Uptown Division, Nursing Services, Community Living Center (various units)

The Assistant Nurse ManagerÂ's role is a critical position of leadership within the Nursing Services. The Assistant Nurse Manager is directly responsible and accountable to the Nurse Manager of the designated inpatient unit. He/she functions with moderate supervision. The Assistant Nurse Manger is also responsible and accountable for maintaining training required and may be assigned additional duties that reflect the educational, experiential and competency requirements outlined in the Dimensions of Practice. This RN possesses the knowledge and skills to:
• Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with all internal and external customers; • Maintain confidentiality of electronic, written, and /or verbal pa! tient/employee information;
• Demonstrate working practices that include adherence to Infection Control standards, Patient Safety standards and the safe use and operation of equipment.
• Demonstrates ability to lead and direct diverse and dynamic groups of staff in the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
• Accountable for all aspects of nursing care and Long Term Care (LTC) Standards.
• He/she applies the Center for Medicare Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission Long Term Care standards of care into practice.
• He/she has the ability to communicate to groups, organizations, patients and families regarding the unique care opportunities and programs within Geriatrics Service.
• He/she is also responsible for the supervision of the unitÂ's nursing staff during the absence of the Nurse Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must meet all the requirements identified in the VA Handbo! ok 5005, Part II, Appendix G, Nurse Qualification Standards http://vaww1.va.gov/ohrm/HRLibrary/Dir-Policy.htm
1) US Citizenship (2) Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. (3) Current, full, active and unrestricted licensure as a registered professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or the District of Columbia. (4) Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement may be required. RN's appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience.
Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and no e! xperience.
Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and app! roximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience.
Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience.
Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience. Applicant's successful nursing practice and length of nursing practice (experience) will! be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected.
