services. Registered Nurses provide caring and professional inpatient
nursing support to adul! ts and adolescents suffering from psychiatric
or addictive disorders. Additionally, the Geriatric unit provides
acute care for seniors in psychiatric crisis.

Our in-patient nursing
department is led by the Director of Nursing, Nurse Weekend
Supervisor and includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses,
Mental Health Technicians, and Patient Care Technicians.
SummitRidge is committed to continuity of care and does not utilize
agency staff, instead we maintain a fully trained PRN pool as needed.

Join a
fast-paced team as a Registered Nurse to prescribe, delegate and
coordinate the nursing care provided on assigned unit, as appropriate
for the ages of the patients served. Routinely function as the nurse responsible for a
group of patients or as a preceptor or the charge nurse. Supervise and direct the
nursing care provided by other nursing staff in a positive and
courteous manner.
Communicate effe! ctively to other staff to promote efficient
continuity of ! care.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing

with an AD, Diploma or BSN

• Currently licensed as an RN with the Georgia Board of

Nursing or temporary permit

• Prior experience with inpatient psychiatry or acute care

hospital setting.

Position Tasks:
1.
Nursing Process - Delivers nursing care and
medications to the acutely ill patient through the nursing proce! ss of
assessment planning, intervention, implementation and
evaluation. Effectively
interacts and communicates with patient, significant others, and
other health team members, while maintaining standards of
professional nursing and safety. Identifies signs and symptoms, which include
potential physiologic problems; correlates these with abnormalities
found in the database; takes action, which reflects knowledge and
good judgement. Assists
Mental Health Techs and LPN’s in identifying strategies to deal
with behavioral responses to
illnesses.

2.
Human Relations
â€" Promotes unit cohesiveness through positive peer support and
care group direction, communicating information about staff’s
needs to appropriate person.
Verbalizes patient care expected outcomes and care strategies
to coworkers in charge of shift report.

3.
Quality Improvement

• Demonstrates skill in

p! lanning care for patients with complex safety needs; assists Mental Health Techs and LPN’s in translating standards of care into an
effective plan of care of the patient. Participates in unit QA activities as requested;
identifies potential or actual areas for quality
improvement.

4.
Leadership/Decision
Making â€" Fulfills the role of the nurse who is responsible for
group of assigned patients and who interfaces appropriately with
students in the clinical area.
Recognizes and takes immediate action in crisis situations;
evaluates the effectiveness and implications of own
decisions.

5.
Patient Teaching
â€" Provides guidance to Mental Health Techs ’s and
LPN’s in implementing an effective patient teaching/discharge
planning, adapts teaching skills and plans to individual
situations.
