Background and-or Security Investigation required DUTIES:
The incumbent responsible and is given authority overseeing of two state of the art Angio/Interventional Suites and the staff (6 IR Technologists)employed to operate them. This includes staffing, workload efficiency, technologist productivity, performance measures, assignments, and scheduling administration.

The incumbent oversees and is responsible for the coordination and performance of diagnostic radiology,angiography procedures, complex vascular and non-vascular procedures and therapeutic procedures. These procedures are performed with and without contrast materials. The IR Supervisor must have a complete and thorough working knowledge of all functions under his/her purview and can direct and/or operate all the IR equipment to assure its many capabilities and to provide efficient patient care. Inc! umbent will be responsible for being the Contract Officer Representativ! e (COR) for the after-hours Intervention Radiologist contract.

Incumbent will have a role in the integration of the IR service delivery with Diagnostics, Radiology, Nursing and the Interventional Radiologist. Also distribute workload, and maintain the work to ensure all members of the IR imaging section properly adhere to policies and procedures developed by the Radiology Service and Medical Center when applicable. When possible, assists the Chief Technologist with operation of the department.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • U.S. citizenship . Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Certification All applicants must be certified in g! eneral radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R).
  • English Language Proficiency. Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C., chapter 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity.
  • Experience or Education. All candidates must meet the basic education requirement by the completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associates' degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), and certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiology.
GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
GS-11: completion of 1 year of experience at the next lower grade level, that is directly related to the position to be filled and that de! monstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and other cha! racteristic needed to provide services as a quality control technologist, diagnostic radiologic technology team leader, supervisory radiologic technologist, or an assistant chief radiologic technologist.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT FOR GS-11:
In
addition to meeting the basic requirements stated above, the following
qualifications criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment .
GS-11

(a) Experience.
Completion of 1 year of experience at the next lower grade level
GS-10, that is directly related to the position to be filled and that
demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and other
characteristics needed to provide services as a quality control technologist,
diagnostic radiologic technology team leader, supervisory radiologic
technologist, or an assistant chief radiologic technologist. In addition,
the candidate must demonstrate the following technical KSAs and demonstrate
t! he potential to acquire the assignment specific KSAs designated by an asterisk

(b) For all assignment above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and range of variety, and be performed by the incubent at least 25% of the time. DRTs at this grade level may be appointed to one of the following assignments.
Supervisory Diagnostic
Radiologic Technologist (Chief). Employees in this assignment assume
full administrative and professional responsibility for planning and directing
the radiologic technology program at a medical center or independent outpatient
clinic that does not meet the level of complexity described at the GS-12 level
for a chief radiologic technologist and has significant supervisory
responsibility for staff.

    recommend appointments, advancements, or, when appropriate, disciplinary
    actions;

    Ability to evaluate performance, identify continuing education and training needs,
    etc.; and
    • ( 5 )
    Ability to analyze organizational, technical, and administrative problems and
    to develop and implement solutions that result in efficient section operation.

    Ability to left 45 pounds and over, heavy carrying , 45 pounds and over, straight pulling up to 4 hours, pulling hand over hand 4 hours, pushing up to 4 hours, reaching above shoulders. Both hands are required, walking up to 4 hours, standing up to 4 hours, crawling up to 4 fours, kneeing up to 4 hours, repeat bending up to 4 hours, climbing, use of legs and arms ( both legs are required).
