The Clinical Services Director is responsible to oversee the clinical aspects of the agency, to supervise all nursing person! nel, personal care workers, and office staff, to assure compliance to all regulatory agencies, and to manage the office in the absence of the Administrator.
General Responsibilities: Manages and directs the programâs clinical services. Directs and coordinators all clinical services related to the interdisciplinary team and insures that interdisciplinary care is provided. Assists with recruiting, employing, assigning, supervising, evaluating, and terminating clinical staff. Ensures adequate and appropriate staffing to meet the office needs. Directs staff in performance of their duties including admission, discharge, transfer, revocation, and provision of services to patients. Provides proper service control, uniform accounting, and measurement of program outcome for record and reporting systems. Monitors operations for progres! s towards accomplishing operational/strategic plans. Directs t! he day-to-day coordination and general supervision of the telehealth monitoring program. Directs, coordinates and supervises Team Coordinator. Ensures personnel files are compliant Responsible for supervision, evaluation, and implementation of a system for the delivery of nursing and personal care services. Sets and promotes a climate conducive to opportunities for staff development, including: orientation, in-services and continuing education with effective measures of competence and improvement. Participates in on-call coverage. Prepares periodic reports for Administrator regarding clinical programs. Manages expenditures and insures growth and profitability of Agency Accepts other assignments deemed appropriate. Adheres to establish Company policies. Participates in agency quality improvements programs when requested. Interprets and implements established policies to all personnel. Assists the Administrator in an adherence of general and program policies. Ensures appropri! ate, accurate, and timely AP, AR, payroll and billing procedures in the agency. Develops and supports systems for management and program compliance, including conflict and complaint resolution. Directs day-to-day coordination and general supervision of the home care and/or hospice services. Ensures collaboration with agencies and vendors for effective management of services. Evaluates clinical services and personnel using measurable outcomes and objectives. Establishes and maintains effective channels of communication including integration of technology with communication. Ensures coordination with oth! er organization areas and senior management, as appropriate, according ! to the structure and services. Ensures staff and organization stay current on local/national issues and trends. Participates in development and implementation of service policies to accomplish identified outcomes. Monitors utilization for comprehensive services. Ensures that services provided by other agencies are authorized by the Company. Ensures appropriate data collection and regular and complete reports are received by the governing body. Ensures that adequate space, equipment, and supplies are available. Ensures actionable objectives are derived from evaluation of services and personnel. Ensures standards of ethical business and clinical practices are maintained. Serves as an active member of the sales team. Assists sales team when requested. Understands the basic hospice/homecare sales skills and the concept of needs assessment selling. Understands facility contracting and physician billing Understands how diagnosis mix affects profitability. Demonstrates diplomacy i! n dealing with health care providers to resolve conflicts. Ensures all hospice referrals are admitted within 4 hours of referral and home care referrals are admitted within 24 hours of referral. Responsible for all clinical office meetings including Performance Improvement, Safety and Infection Control. Responsible for clinical record review on minimally 10% of records monthly. Ensures appropriate insurance authorization is obtained and documented on all patients.
Education
Degree as a Registered Nurse; Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred and in good standing with the state board.
Qualifications
Demonstrates problem solving and decision making abilities.
Demonstrates ability in program administration including knowledge of hospice and/or home care standards and policies and reimbursement practices.
Ability to develop and maintain rapport with the patient, family and staff. Computer skills.
Experience
Hospice â" Minimum 2 years leadership ex! perience in a palliative care setting, hospice preferred. In the state ! of MS 3 years of experience as a registered nurse is required.
Home Care â" Minimum 2 years experience in home care as a case manager or in a home health management position.
Physical Demands
Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds; Walking, standing, talking, hearing, pushing, reaching, seeing, stooping, smelling, depth perception, color vision.
Travel
Travel as required. Travel to regional/corporate meetings and training.
Working Conditions
Office, referral sources, and clientâs homes. Exposure to disagreeable conditions including odors, infection, illness, and physical contact with disruptive patients.
Principal Contacts
Field staff, office staff, patients, families, physicians, community health care providers, administrator, referral sources, sister agencies and internal departments.
Work Schedule
Must be flexible t! o accommodate schedule changes. May require participation in on-call rotation, and travel to regional/corporate meetings. May also require work after normal business hours to accommodate client/business needs.
