Within this setting, the School of Nursing is a dynamic unit focused on the scholarship of teaching, research, practice, and service. Thirty full-time faculty serve students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs including pre-licensure, RN-BSN, RN-MSN, MSN (Family Nurse Practitioner), and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. A new state-of-the-art School of Nursing Building houses the program and features technologically advanced faculty offices and scholarship areas, classrooms, computer and learning laboratories, and a community outreach nursing clinic. Nursi! ng students practice in a wide array of institutional and community settings. The School is CCNE-accredited and has received the University System of Georgia Board of Regents Award for Teaching Excellence. The School has an Endowed Chair in Rural Community Health Nursing and secures grant funding in excess of $800,000 annually.

Position Description. Reporting directly to the Chair of the School of Nursing, this position requires teaching, research, and service along with a terminal degree. The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include establishing a vigorous research program, teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs, assuming a leadership role in the School of Nursing’s development of rural community health nursing practice and research leading to graduate degrees. Academic and scientific leadership in developing graduate programs in nursing will also be expected. The position is a 9-month appointment and the salary is competitive ! and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requir! ed Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in nursing or a closely related field with at least one graduate degree in nursing; NP certification required for teaching in the selected graduate courses.

Credentials that merit appointment at the rank of Full Professor including a minimum of eight years of full-time teaching at the college/university level and high level of performance in scholarship.

The proven ability to conduct and direct high quality research in the area of rural community health nursing and a successful grant record in the area.

Qualifications to provide academic and scientific leadership in developing graduate programs in nursing.

Commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service that is consistent with the College’s priorities for the School and the mission of the University.

Ability to contribute to a positive work environment in the School, College, and University.

Technological literacy and a comm! itment to integrate technology in teaching and scholarship.

Commitment to professional service within the University and beyond.

Active Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license by August 1, 2014, and eligibility for graduate faculty status.

Commitment to recruiting, advising, retaining, and mentoring qualified students.

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in rural community health nursing care, experience teaching in and/or administering graduate programs in nursing.

Experience working with a diverse student body.

Experience in online instruction and development.
