For detail informations about this career opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. The Patient Care Tech performs direct patient care within the scope of a PCT/CNA. He/She performs the primary function of ! caring and assisting all assigned patients, infant through life span in the Med/Surg Unit. This includes daily care as well as other care duties the primary nurse delegates within the scope of practice .He/she is responsible for meeting the established policies/standards of practice for this facility. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patients and passes information to primary nurse. Daily use of analytical and decision-making skills. Promotes and maintains patient safety standards. Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers. Promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of CMC. Responsible for maintaining a functional personal telephone and providing Human Resources and d! epartment Manager/Director with current telephone number.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklist. Meets mutually agreed upon performance objectives as outlined on the Performance Management Plan.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases. Direct contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Subject to irregular work hours and stress due to multiple phone calls and inquiries from doctors, managers and families. Must be flexible, work at a fast pace and manage several projects at a time. Interdisciplinary contact with other health care disciplines/professionals. Handles emergency or crisis situations professionally, adapting to change as needed. Flexible in meeting the needs of the unit, i.e. change in assignments or work schedule. During low census, may be required to leave early, rotate days off or float to other departments.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Pr! olonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics while moving and lifting patients or objects. Frequently lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients. Frequently moves supplies and equipment requiring moderate physical effort to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds: employee is required to obtain assistance for lifting more than 50 pounds. Manual dexterity and mobility needed for considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and/or crouching. Able to reach above shoulders without difficulty. Able to perform several tasks simultaneously.
REPORTS TO
RN Charge Nurse, Med/Surg Nurse Manager, or Med/Surg Director
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED
Minimal. Must be able to work independently.
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Healthcare Provider (BLS) Certification required within 90 days of hire or promotion.
Previous 2 years experience pr! eferred.
Currently in an Accredited Nursing Program or CNA Cer! tification preferred.
Must be within 60 minutes of the facility when on call.
