Provides professional patient care in Gastroenterology under the direction of the physician and according to applicable state guidelines and established Code of Ethics. Care is delivered based on individual needs using established protocols with an emphasis on health promotion, recovery, and patient/ family education. Responsibilities include direct, autonomous patient care in various settings, including but not limited to, private office, emergency department, OR, outpatient Procedure Room, inpatient and outpatient hospital areas. Some call will be required. Responsibilities other than direct provision of patient care include supervision of staff members, education, research, and collaboration with HSCG and MCCG physicians, support staff and management. Chart review for appropriate patient follow-up and documentation is required. The position requires an un! derstanding of AAP Guidelines. Community involvement is encour! aged. Coordination of specialty clinics and/ or special projects may be assigned by the Department Director or Medical Director. Provides assistance and education for residents as required. The Provider is specifically accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in a subspecialty department (Gastroenterology ).

Education: Education: Master’s degree from an approved program for nurse practitioners.

Experience: Minimum of one year experience in a clinical practice as a nurse practitioner preferred. New graduates accepted with three to five years relevant nursing experience in gastroenterology, internal medicine, or other related field.

Certification/License/Registration: Must be licensed by state nursing board. ACLS certification required within 12 months.
