Summary:
JOB SUMMARY: In accordance with American Nurses Association Scope & Standards of Practice for Nursing Administration, nurse managers are responsible for collecting pertinent data, analyzing data, identifying expected outcomes, developing plans/strategies to attain expected outcomes, implementing and coordinating identified plans, employing strategies to foster health promotion, providing consultation to influence identified plans and enhance abilities of others, evaluates progress towards attainment of outcomes, as well as assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating educational and performance needs, planning and monitoring orientation of new employees, collaboration for provision of annual competencies, development and provision of quarterly Mock Codes, policy review and any identified revisions, collaboration with Education Department to ensure d! ivision is current with facility updates, collaborates to prov! ides annual seminar to address topics of best practice care. Participates in organizational meetings and provide organizational updates to unit-employees. Provides statistical reports as requested Director. Demonstrates and supports Caring Leadership model. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a graduate from a Registered Professional Nursing Program with a minimum of 5 years experience as an RN. BSN required. Applicants with an Associate’s degree and requisite experience will be considered, but must commit to obtaining a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution within 24 months if awarded the position. Preferred: Master’s degree. SKILLS/ABILITIES: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Effective interpersonal skills. Assumes responsibility for own self development and for keeping current with advances in evidence-based practice and technology. Must have the ability to assume leadership role in nursing practice. Must be a! ble to organize work, to delegate effectively, and to direct and oversee the work of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, non licensed assistive personnel and unit secretaries. Must have the ability to recognize patient care problems and to react appropriately in patient care emergencies. Must have the ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.
