King & Spalding seeks a Legal Nurse Consultant to join its Trial Practice and Global Disputes practice group to assist attorneys as assigned.
Candidates will have the following responsibilities:
- Follows the ethical requir ements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the state in which employed.
- Observes confidentiality of client matters and maintains positive contact with clients.
- Reviews and analyzes case files, associated medical records, and other applicable documents for the purpose of preparing matter evaluations and status reports for trial.
- Summarizes medical records, articles, reports, witness statements, and depositions.
- Establishes, organizes and maintains case files, medical records, pleadings, attorney notebooks, expert witness notebooks, and document indexes and lists.
- Locates and confers with expert witnesses and resource people. Arranges for expert witness inspections and obtains approval from counsel of record and specified parties.
- Reviews and outlines medical records; indexes and summarizes documents.
- Reviews and outlines depositions; indexes and summarizes documents.
- Performs assigned med ical research tasks using all available resources including libraries and computer data systems.
- Checklist set-up and form files.
- Checks citations and references in written and computer-generated materials for accuracy.
- Operates standard office equipment such as photocopiers, fax machines, personal computers, typewriters, Dictaphones, telephone television, video recorders and cameras.
Requirements:
- A four year college education, nursing degree with clinical experience and knowledge of legal principles and practices at a level normally acquired through formal paralegal training or its equivalent.
- Approximately 5-7 years of on-the-job experience.
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently.
- Ability to proofread typed ma terial for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors.
- Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with courtesy and tact.

- Ability to retrieve and distribute print volumes, push and pull packages, books weighing up to 20 pounds and ability to retrieve and replace objects from shelves of up to 8 feet high. Ability to alternately stand or sit 7.50 hours or more per day.
- Work requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours.
- Ability to travel to private and public buildings, locally and nationwide, via private or public conveyance to assist attorney in attending to client needs on legal matters.
