The RN Perinatal / Lactation Educator demonstrates advanced breastfeeding knowledge and sk! ills in the care of families and newborns. Each breastfeeding consultation requires specialized skills. The delivery of care is based on criteria that is age appropriate and is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and learning needs of the family and newborn. The Perinatal / Lactation Educator is responsible for the coordination of Lactation services in the hospital; provides inpatient consultation and telephone follow up; and serves as a resource to medical and nursing staff. Will conduct child birth education classes as well as breastfeeding classes.

Position Requirements:
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current Georgia Registered Nurse License,

Current BLS Certification

Completion of certified lactation program.

Goal is achieve IBCLC

NRP certification

Experience:
Minimum 2 â€" 3 years clinical experience in Perinatal nursing, including work with breastfeeding mo! thers and babies.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrates good organizational skills. Provides safe and appropriate patient care. Has knowledge specific to include anatomy and physiology of lactation, nutrition during pregnancy and lactation, management of breastfeeding problems, psychosocial aspects of lactation, treatment modalities, and the ability to incorporate these factors into the nursing process. Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally, written and verbal, with all internal and external customers.
