Pediatric Critical Care
Columbus Regional Healthcare System is seeking a BE/BC Pediatric Critical Care physic! ian to join the newly branded The Children’s Hospital at The Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. Interested candidates will be employed by Columbus Regional Physician Group (a multi-specialty group practice with 53 doctors) with an appointment to the Department of Pediatrics (Joseph Zanga, M.D., Chief of Pediatrics and past president of the American Academy of Pediatrics). This physician will be supported by a sedation credentialed Pediatric Hospitalist, a Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, telemedicine consults from pediatric critical care faculty at Mercer University School of Medicine, as well as by other on-site specialized physician (pediatric radiology and anesthesiology) staff as he/she builds a much needed regional program.
Columbus Regional Healthcare System is comprised of three hospitals. The Medical Center is the largest of Columbus Regional’s hospitals and functions as a Level 2 Trauma Center with the region’s only Children’s Hospital, Neu! roscience Center of Excellence, an expanded and newly renovate! d Emergency and Trauma Center, The John B. Amos Cancer Center, and advanced technology including a 4-arm model of the da Vinci Surgical Robot.
The Children’s Hospital at Columbus Regional Medical Center offers the region’s only dedicated pediatrics program, including the region’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. It features a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, state-of-the-art equipment, private and semi-private patient rooms, specialized oncology rooms, and a Child Life Center. Recently announced was a $35 Million project for women’s and children’s services beginning in 2013 that will include a dedicated Pediatric ED, NICU with all private rooms and other program enhancements. As one of six regional perinatal centers in Georgia, The Children’s Hospital serves 21 counties in southwest Georgia and Lee and Russell counties in Alabama. Many children who need the care of a Pediatric Critical Care specialist sometimes today have to travel to Macon, Atlanta or Birmi! ngham, thus creating the opportunity to develop and expand a vibrant service.
